“Sonic Confession”
Rockefeller Center for Contemporary Arts, Dresden
Rudolf-leonhard-Str. 54 · 01097 Dresden
On 10–11 September, OUTSIDEININSIDEOUTINSIDEOUTOUTSIDEIN will present the outcomes of the laboratory in the form of collaborative workshop, live sound performances, interactive installations, and additional formats, reflecting a month-long process of artistic research and collaborations. “Sonic Confession” continues our investigation into the relationships between sound, the natural environment, embodied knowledge, and collective creation. Through the lens of ecomusicology, we explore how sound shapes and is shaped by its ecological context. Field recording, deep listening, and sonic experimentation become tools for understanding and experiencing the world.

When we part from superficial proximity, we inevitably invite conflicts to arise.
We are cliffs separated by a ravine. Opening up means closing the distance between. When cliffs move closer, certain convexities may crush the other. That is a conflict. Let us not be afraid of it.

11.09 Exhibition and Installations .
Installations
The exhibition features experimental and synth-based installations, ranging from tactile DIY analog circuits to interactive environmental instruments. These works explore noise, touch, creating spaces where technology, intuition, and the environment merge.
Installations on view: Results of workshop with František Hruška, Results of workshop with Error Instruments & Paul Tas, Works by Barbara Miše, Junying Wu, Aliaksandra Yakubouskaya, Sabiwa
Featuring installations by:
Barbara Miše
During her stay in Stadt Wehlen, Barbara collected tiny sonic textures from the surrounding environment. I__I explores their transformations and interactions with various resonant materials.
Junying Wu — the days a stone rushed in my nose
A pneumatic installation taking the ‘radius of perception’ as its metaphor, exploring the shifting relations between bodily states, emotions, and landscape. Constricted to breath, respiration, and the soles of the feet, perception contracts and expands, attuning at times to the broader atmospheres of place.
Aliaksandra Yakubouskaya — Skin Skript
Revisiting a childhood memory of stinging nettles as a form of future-telling, this work inscribes the body with marks that become scripts — letters through which the body speaks, carrying not only futuretelling signs but also imprints of collective histories and cultural memory.
Sabiwa – small objects in space

Sound Cartography (workshop in english)
How can we capture the sonic
essence of a place on a map? How have approaches to sound cartography evolved over time? What defines this practice, and who were its pioneers? In this exploration of digital sound cartography, we will delve into the history and development of sound mapping, exploring the work of researchers who laid its foundations. In collaboration with OUTSIDEININSIDEOUTINSIDEOUTOUTSIDEIN.
17.8.- 23.8.25 Heymannbaude Kleinhennersdorf: Phonon.cz/OTTOsonics/TAMlab Linz

August 20, 2025 Torhaus Wehlen: Workshop Antje Meichsner (Dresden)
One-day hike through Saxon Switzerland with discussion.
Antje Meichsner is a Dresden-based multidisciplinary artist in the fields of sound, film, composition, radio, graphics, poetry. In terms of content, she deals with the body in society and which political discourses permeate the individual. And how the individual crosses the landscape. Antje Meichsner has a special focus on the people who live in Saxon Switzerland. Since 2020, she has been conducting artistic research on this region. Antje will take over part of the lab and expand our knowledge of the environment, the landscape and listening through an exploratory practice of walking and sleeping outdoors.
This is a workshop in German/English and part of the research and artist residency project “Sonic Confessions” and has been organized by the international Outsideininsideoutinsideoutoutsidein Kollectiv since 2019. This year it will take place from August 11 to September 8 in the Torhaus Wehlen.
